Oh, the bliss!

Am thoroughly enjoying the thrashing India is currently handing over to Sri Lanka in their own backyard. Yes, we have done consistenly in the last few tours, both away and at home, but the it’s the consistency with which this series has been won that gives me the satisfaction. For me it’s the kind of revenge I would curse Sri Lanka with when they were beating India post the 1996 World Cup. As a kid, those were traumatic days for me. Honestly. No matter what we did, the Lankans were better at it. Our bowlers got the kind of pasting that would have given them nightmares when awake. After one Asia Cup Final, Tendulkar, the then captain, said “…looks like even thousand runs won’t be enough against them”.

Yes, those were the days when Ranatunga was sterring the Lankans to some great performances and they had DeSilva as well. But they aren’t exactly a walkover now either. What has changed though, is the Indian team and its approach to the game esp. under Dhoni. While Ganguly showed that we can overcome the mental barriers of playing Lanka in their backyard, Dhoni has taken it to a whole new level. And while they have been there the Cricket has been of the top draw. The way Lankan bowlers are struggling to bowl even decent overs, reminds me of our bowlers’ struggles a few years back. The batsmen were no less miserable. There was one particular match I remember when were playing a three-match series and were chasing 300 to win. Azhar and Jadeja scored hundreds and we still lost the game due to the harakiri towards the end bug. Those things happen very rarely nowadays.

As I was following the score today, only one thing went through my mind: Yes, this is the revenge we aggrieved fans deserve.

Oh yeah, gimme this team anyday over a team of bloated superstars (or the so called fab 5) that we had earlier.

All they had was individual records to their names, but hardly any series wins. This is what i will take anyday.

Revenge has no place in Sports, no?

The better team won, as simple as that. Now and even in the past.

One or two bad losses and the so-called-bliss will turn into “disgust” 😆

Yeah! ultimate revenge. Thought India would chase 320, but they couldn’t. Just missed a whitewash. India is a peace loving nation. Isn’t it?
