The DC nightmares
A ten minute stay at the all new Deccan Chronicle website is enough to send admirers of decent English running for cover. As it happens I ran to my blog to get the nightmarish content out of my mind. Here are some of the gems:
The Congress has agreed in principle to address the issue of Telangana statehood, but there will no immediate announcement. (And that’s the headline.)
Rafa and Williams sisters sizzle. (Are we even talking Tennis here?)
The event included a diverse array of talent featuring both musical performances and historical readings and an appearance by Mr Obama. (Doesn’t that make it three?)
DCPoll: Is Hayden a better batsmen than Sachin Tendulkar (How many Haydens does it take to beat one Tendulkar? And no there was no question mark at the end.)
And then there’s this:
For your own mental safety, I’d suggest you don’t start wondering about when / why Obama changed his name to ‘dossier’ or what he has got to do with any of those news headlines alongside his image or what the ellipsis is doing before ‘more’.
This is just from the homepage. I could not dare venture into the inner pages.
Reminds me of AAJ Tak 🙂 Soapopera of News.
I undergo the same feelings when I come here 😛
The pic u showed here now shows Zardari on the DC homepage!
There are many more gems over there, like the Good news-bad news menu under the Nation link where the bad news link does not work.
Ycee, the feeling is mutual. Just that I control my urge to speak out against your unending abuse of the apostrophe.
@lazybug: I have just visited the DC website and found National news categorised as Good News and Bad News. The Bad News link is working. Check out the page and you’ll wonder how bad those are 😛
Hilarious!
Need to visit the DC website.
By the way, have you read “Eats, Shoots and Leaves”. If you haven’t please purchase a copy. I am sure you will be delighted.
Cheers!
PS: Thanks for your comment in my blog. I am amazed you had the patience to go through the whole post. I was wondering of any one would.
