It’s an Indian achievement, OK?

If there’s one thing I hate about us, it’s the desire to get a western stamp on everything Indian. So, Kashmir becomes Switzerland of India and Ludhiana becomes Manchester. Continuing in this utterly pathetic tradition, no sooner did poor old Ramalinga Raju made public his account juggling skills, the Indian media gave it a western stamp calling it India’s Enron. I say this comparison is downright insulting to all the scamsters India has produced (and will not doubt continue to produce in the future). A country that has seen scams and frauds of a variety seen nowhere else deserves better than that. And this situation will not change till we realise that we are good enough not to piggy back on others’ achievements to enjoy our glories.

So, I appeal to all the proud and self-respecting Indians out there to shun this practice and actively participate in a counter-stamping of western achievements. Let’s start with calling Richard Madoff the Harshad Mehta of America, OK?

I dream of a day when we shall see a ‘Telgi of America’, a ‘Lalu of France’ or a ‘Fernandes of Switzerland’ written in bold on their newspapers front pages.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Indian achievement and proud of it. OK 😉

Clearly, it was a case of which came first. If enron happened tomorrow, it would no doubtedly be labelled the ‘Satyam of US’. But since it had the headstart, poor Satyam has no choice but to ‘follow the leader’ in this Scam-Name-Game.

P.S: “and” should be “an” in the title. Also check: “Indian media” and “nowhere else”

@Arvind: The US doesn’t have any stamp papers, do they? 😐

    Oye Lazy: Slug kaun badlega?

@Ycee and arvind: I don’t believe that’ll ever happen. The Indian media is too lame to make such a bold statement.

And Telugu is the Italian of the east.

Why? Only because the words end in vowels?~?

Well, the whole world is being driven by the west. So obviously we’ll be using that point of reference.

Else, wouldnt this blog be in Hindi, Telugu or Marathi?

@mumbai movies: The problem is not with the language. English is the lingua-franca of business, but that should in no way make you think of things western as superior. And that’s my grouse of the Indian media.
