The Shivraj effect

Or may be it comes with the home ministry itself…

What Shivraj Patil epitomised during his epic stay at the home ministry, is being carried forward by his successor, P Chidambaram. Yes, we are talking about making insanely, awesomely, powerful statements like these that can scare the AK-47s  out of  terrorists and their protectors:

The home minister said the government had evidence the Mumbai terror attacks had originated from Pakistani soil.

If anything, Chidambaram has taken it a level higher by making the statement two weeks after the attacks. In case of Patil, they usually came within two hours.

when we could sacrifice more than 5000 of our people and take on numerous attacks and still tolerate Patil for 4 years, lets give lungi some more time.

i would be still be happy if we learnt something from this attacks and took real steps on the ground to plug the loopholes and made changes in our policing and judicial system.

The cynical me is still not convinced, but then PC has the knack of delivering the undeliverable. So, i wont write him off so fast.

The bureaucrats run the country not the politicians.
