The Ability to Write

On a daily basis I experience thoughts and ideas that affect me deeply. Yet, i am not always able to express them in words – spoken or written. I see a vision of these thoughts in my mind whenever I want to, but that’s something only I can see and understand. To put it across to someone with his / her own way of looking at things involves filtering of thoughts down to actions and actions to words. That I am able to do this in a few cases only means that there are aspects about myself that I am yet to interpret. Interpreting would involve accepting what I am as I am. And perhaps that is something I would avoid instinctively, thanks to my ego. Whether that would happen gradually over a period of time is anyone’s guess. But the curiosity to know what I am not able to pen down will never go away. For the day it goes away, I’ll probably stop talking / writing.

But why writing? Expressing oneself is something we indulge in all the time. The better we are at it, the more easier it is for people to understand. We might choose to express ourselves in written or spoken words, or with actions. Writing is my way of saying it. What’s yours?

Moral of the whole thing: Be curious. Know yourself. Curiosity did kill the cat, but it might help you live a better life.

Lyrics for the moment

Do you think that I know something you don’t know?
If I don’t promise you the answers would you go? – What do you want from me – Pink Floyd

    I was confused after reading the first paragraph. It’s the same with a number of people. The people with whom you are sharing your thoughts play a vital role. So we need to be choosy.

    However, the last paragraph gave the solution. Writing gives you time and allows you to use the right words (of course one needs to be a good writer and you r a good writer). So, u have found a way.

    The ability to express is the quality that differentiates successful person from others. After reading your blogs and other write-ups, I feel that you have greater potential than what you believe. Still, the path to perfection never ends. Keep it up!

    It is more or less the same case with me. Putting your thoughts in words that others can understand in the same way as you do is quite difficult. Expressing them gives you some relief.

    After reading through the post and the comments, I’m unable to put my thoughts abt this lazybug’s thoughts. But one thing I notice is that u r quite choosy abt the people with whom u share ur feelings/thoughts. The way you pen down the thoughts itself is something which amazes me. I admire you for the same. I’ve no doubt in stating / predicting that you’ve all the qualities needed to become a good writer.

    There are so many ways to express oneself. Painting, dancing, singing, sculpting…these creative forms are self-expressions. Writing is just one of the forms. The ideas that u are unable to put across in words are reflected in your photography.

    @Vinay: I have a LONG way to go, to say the least, to be able to express everything that I feel like expressing.

    @Srinaini: Thank you sir!

    @Santhosh: Keep writing 🙂

    @rksadhu: Thank you…I hope to get better.

    @prity: Of all the people, how could you forget my dancing skills?

    I wonder what exactly did u want to express by dancing non stop for three hours????

  9. lazybug / Jul 10 2008 6:07 pm

    @Rashid: Thank you!

    @Prity: I don’t know…there could be a lot of interpretations of the kind of art form I put on display that day. What do you think?

    All that I can interpret is that you were trying to impress someone.

    Whatever that means.
