Did you know…

…that the Board of Control for Cricket in India had a website? Here’s what it looks like:

BCCI web site

Don’t bother going there though, ‘coz this is the only page it has got. No wonder, then, that this awesome site does not appear anywhere in the top ten results of a web search for the term ‘bcci’.

It gets even more embarrassing when another web search reveals that even the The ‘United States of America Cricket Association’ has got a website of its own.

But fear not. The BCCI sleuths have decided to set right this wrong and provide us with a ‘best breed of web portal’. Whatever that means. And for creating this auspicious website, they’ve gone for a bidding process. Bidding process to create a website?! You may ask, and here’s the answer:

Bid documents can be obtained from BCCI office at Wankhede Stadium from Thursday 1000 hrs onwards for a non-refundable and non-adjustable amount of Rs five lakh and the bid must be submitted by 1200 hrs on November 17, after which the BCCI Marketing Sub Committee will open the tender.

Eat your heart out if you are a website designer but that’s what I call making some cool money when you should actually be spending it. Thisdeserves a Hats off!

The biggest tragedy of Indian cricket is that while its board knows how to make money, it’s a dumb ass when it comes to spending the same.

Aila!I bet- retired and those who are going to retire(forced or voluntary ;-))are already gearing up for a big pie.
Rs 181 crore as fixed deposits in nationalised banks#it’s a dumb ass when it comes to spending the same#
    I second that.

why does the board needs a website anyway? All its goings-on and functioning is openly splashed across the media everyday…right from Pawar’s shove on the dias to Chappell’s letter on the players to the politicians sitting in the front row!

P.S: The idea for the header image seems to be plagiarized 👿

@pundit: Yeah. The so called corporatisation is a big sham. the bcci will not change as long as the politicos remain there.

@ Chittaranjan: Don’t you atill get it? They want to make money out of it!
The idea might be inspired, but the image is an original. 😎

@Aravind: Yeah, that blue red flasher is super cool.

India is perhaps the only country in the world where an “angootha chaap” becomes an education minister.

Why blame the BCCI? Its a freaking cash cow. Everyone wants a piece of it. If there is something that involves money, how can a politician be far away?

Wish someone files a PIL in the Supreme Court and strips the BCCI of its official cricket team status. Then, there would be more fun.
