A good day

One never knows whats in store ahead for on any particular day. Most turn out to be a damp squib after a promising start others are damp squib anyway and all the remaining ones fit in a corner somewhere in between.

Today belonged to the last category.
It started on a not-so-good note with my mom waking me up full ONE HOUR before the scheduled wake-up time :evil:. How bad can it get? The next few hours were the usual …finishing the daily chores and leaving for work. Things began to change here. I reached office a full 10 mins in advance…thanks to the smooth traffic. The next happy surprise came when I learnt tht boss was on leave (he is very good boss mind u, but its always nice when bosses are absent once in a while :mrgreen:).

And so the day went on. With boss not around, me managed to have more fun and do a bit of work. But what ever little work i managed to do was real fun and I was really satisfied with it :D. I spent the last few minits reading C&H cartoon strips donated by my kind friend Footprints. It was total fun and gave me a high when some co-workers passed by and gave me that look-at-this-shameless-guy look :mrgreen:. Anyway, office over me and two of my colleagues (also known as kaiku and winstreak) decided to do some stomach worship and headed for Eat Street. We could have gone newhere else…but I am happy we ended up there.

So we reached our temple and headed for the subway counter riteaway. While instructing the subway guy as wht to and not to add to the salad, I got a friendly pat on my shulder. It was one of my friends whom I met through my colleague from my previous company and hadnt met in a while. Along with him was another guy whom my colleague had introduced to me. Back then he was themost cheerful of his friends and always had a smile on his face. Nothing special one might say. But he made my day (the 2nd guy).

Just a few months back he had met with a horrendous accident which resulted in my colleagues death and he being severely injured. This was only his second outing after the mishap. But the smile on his face was still the same and spirits high. We sat together and spoke about things as normally as we would have a few years back. Seeing him recover so well was a great sign and made me very happy even tho the sad thots of my friend lost were appearing every now and then.

A few minutes into the talks and clouds gathered overhead and poured down like anything. It hadnt rained for quite a few days and I was really hoping it did today. And it did!!

We left after a while for our respective abodes, but for me this ended as a very special day. And ofcourse, writing about it was even more better. A day i’ll never forget :).
