And Then It Rained

This was the scene on Tuesday morning. Nothing else could have made me happier after a rather log spell of super-hot days. It was so unexpected, I almost felt as if I was daydreaming. Luckily got to my senses and picked up the camera.

The value of such random showers is very high as compared to the regular monsoons. Like that Ten rupee note one finds in a forgotten piece of clothing–only to spend it hastily. Soon it’s back to the hot sunny days. Such small amounts, of money or rain, don’t last long.

At a different level, it reminds me of how pathetically dependent we human beings are on mother nature for such small pieces of bliss and happiness. Not that I’d like to change it. If given a chance to control it, we humans are capable of royally screwing it up. We deserve these moments of cravings for the rain so that we can properly appreciate what we take for granted otherwise.

The autorickshaw driver that day summed it up nicely when he said, “Insaan ko koi bhi cheez zyada der tak pasand nahi aati” (Humans cannot take anything–sunshine or rain in this case–for too long).
