New Books Arrived
Spent about 3-1/2 hours at Crosswords today. 2 hours with the guys from Hyderabad Photography Club at Flickr and the remaining searching books. Here’s what I came out with (click on the links to know more about the books):

The Interpretation of Murder – By Jed Rubenfeld – Rs. 280/-

Tales from Firozsha Baag – By Rohinton Mistry – Rs. 295/-

Anandmath – By Bankim Chandra Chatterjee – Rs. 175/-

Ravan & Eddie – By Kiran Nagarkar – Rs. 295/-

Identity and Survival – Sikh Militancy in India – By Kirpal Dhillon – Rs. 395/-

Red Earth and Pouring Rain – By Vikram Chandra – Rs. 395/-
Suffice it to say, I am not even sure I’ll read all of them. Feels good to own them though.
Update: Prices added.

Akhil, how about mentioning the prices of the books?
You inspire mate. I have been too much of a tight arse saving money by not buying DVDs or music. But books are supposed to be bought and read. I will now head off to Amazon to get second hand books in true cheap arse style.
You have lot of passion and patience to own and read a lot of stuff. I had seen people with similar passion for novels and books at ICMR.
Anyway ATB.
ahh…i miss Crosswords already. The last time i was in Hyd, i spent more than an hour browsing thru the shop and bought 5 books.
Also the books are so cheap compared to what they are sold for here in S’pore. And, you hardly get any Indian authors here unless they are the Anita Desai and Salman Rushdie types which i hardly read.
How about reviewing these books for us.
Great. Which book are u targeting first? and when can we read the review of the book from you?
@ Yashu: The whole lot cost me around 1.8k. I will list the prices tonight.
@ Aravind: Thank you maite. Do let me know which ones you bought.
@ Vinay. Thank you! Actually, I’ve just about started taking reading seriously.
@ Liju: Crosswords is good. But I feel there’s room for a bigger and better book store at Hyderabad…. Hope it comes soon!
@ Ottayan: I’ll certainly review them…as and when I read them…which could take any length of time.
@ Prasanthi: Thank you! I guess I’ll go for Anandmath first. It’s the shortest book of the lot you see.
Aaah! exciting books akhi. Now I have some motivation to finish off the books that are still lying unread with me.
