Half Truths About Global Warming

Was lead to this scary piece while going through this post at the Cafe Hayek blog published by Don Boudreaux and Russ Roberts of the George Mason University. Original article is here at the Washington Post. It’s scary not because of the things it depicts but because it fails to give a complete picture. Too much to expact from a news paper, I know. Of course, as I keep saying, there is no denying global warming.

Global Warming - Health Risks

For a lay reader, this kind of an image is enough to scare the living daylights out of him. But as Roberts points out:

There is no possibility mentioned of some people not dying if the earth gets warmer. There is no mention of how people might die if we tried to stop it.

This is precisely my grouse with Al Gore and company. What’s worse is the fact that all the media seems to be singing the same song. Most of what they say is half-true and intended to mislead. I am yet to come across a programme or article that looks at the other side of things. All they are interested is in scaring people by telling them that it’s a man-made phenomenon, which is quite rediculous and is yet to be proven.

Fortunately for people like you and I, there’s Internet. Here are some articles I could locate that look at the other side:

Global Warming Consensus Watch - Truth is Inconvenient

Algorism: Heads I win, Tails you lose.

Global Warming: The Other Side of the Story

Dilbert’s Take on the Issue

Scam of The Great Global Warming Swindel (a very informative video link which is actually a debunking of a video that tried to prove the global warming is not happening, which is not true.)

I hope those help. But as I said, the Internet is full of such useful information. And mind you, the people talking about it are experts and not lay men.

Stop Pollution. Cheers.

My previous post on the topic.
