As promised, here are some of the gems dished out by Doordarshan’s Hindi and English commentators during the 6th ODI between India and Australia at Nagpur. These are apart from the usual ones like Shanka ka galiyara (corridor of uncertainty) and Chhoti gaend (short ball):
Yashpal Sharma when Clark got out getting a faint edge to Dhoni: …yeh appeal zaroor hui thi…aur ye bahut jorse kinara laga hai!
Commentator Sunil introducing Sreesanth: …yeh unka 33va match, ab tak 46 match khel chuke hai! (it was supposed to be 46 wickets)
Enlgish commentary:
…and that is appeal!
…immediately he had to depart back
…the Brad Hodge has not been in good form
…the batsman has to hang it out there!
…Pathan and Bhajji have done the damage for Australia
…that is why his average has shooted up
Yashpal Sharma again when Symonds played a late cut: …late kar dekhna hai…
I am quite sure these guys neither have any idea about nor any interest in their jobs. But who cares? They provide free entertainment! Keep hanging it out there guys!

Battsmen ne jor se mara..aur yeh chaar run ke liye…tension mounts……..aur yeh ek run milega…..
“Yashpal Sharma again when Symonds played a late cut: …late kar dekhna hai…”
hahahaha….. that comment takes the cake.
Here are some more rotten eggs.
Hawa mein geind aur yeh Lapak liya.
Very good shot and it is maximum 4 runs.
Mein yeah sochtha hu ki Bharath ko australia ke saamne ek bada score khade karna hai taki the bowlers have something to defend.
In fact every sentence uttered by these fellas will have something to laugh.
“Tappa” is moi fav
“gend tappa khaane ke baad ulti disha mein swing hui aur balle ka bahaari kinaare se thodi hi door se guzar gayi”
Well - logged !
Our cricketers may forget or fail to give us moments to “Cheer” but our commentators don’t.
Keep it up Akhil !
Thank You Sanjay!
chetan sharma said yesterday that even if India lose the match, its a “paisa wasool” because the tail enders were giving a fight. Now thats the wrong attitude, winning is all that matters, fighting and losing is no big deal, Indians need to understand that, I huess the youth today knows that. Chetan & Yashpal are old-timers
